Wild Soul Yoga Retreat in French Alps
27th July – 2nd August 2019
Do you feel you are on the hamster wheel of life, stuck in just getting through the day? Does this express itself as stiffness, tension or even pain in your body? or maybe you find your mind speaking to you in continuing loops of thoughts?
Would you like to transform yourself and your view on life? discover how to live in your body not just in your mind. Start to remove the habitual masks and bring an awareness of habitual patterns that keep you stuck in seeing and acting in the same way?
Join me at this unique yoga retreat in the French Alps, living off grid, immersed in nature. We are surrounded by the majestic mountains, sleeping under canvas with the stars overhead and the sounds of the gorge, eagles and crickets piercing the silence. Discover how beneficial simplicity of living can be…even for a short time.
You are invited to stop what you are doing, hop out of your usual life for a time. What edges would you explore? How does routine serve you and how does adventure call out to the parts of you that you have forgotten or don’t even know exist. This is a real retreat, from the way we usually live, of being constantly "plugged-in and on call”. You are encouraged to put the phone to sleep and engage in the rhythm of nature. The simplicity of days will be determined by the rising sun and moon, our two daily yoga practices (dynamic morning/restorative evening), contemplating, conversing, walking on the mountainside's, collecting and chopping wood to tend the fires. For me, there is such a sense of belonging that happens when people sit around a table and chop vegetables for a meal. Stories and laughter are shared and masks that are normally worn, drop away. I love the sense of “family” that gradually emerges throughout the week from these simple, forgotten ways of being together.
Through the time we spend together, there will be chanting (sometimes around the evening campfire), meditation, hiking in the mountains, creating, a vibrational sound bath with tibetan bowls and gong. Ecstatic dancing for those that wish to participate and towards the end of the retreat we will share in a fire ceremony. There will also be plenty of down time to read, soak in the wood fired hot tub, rest or just be. This yoga retreat will give you an opportunity to find yourself, A re-set of your body and mind and restore your soul. Return back to your life with a sense of the free, wild spirit you are at your essence.
About Les Fraissies
We will be staying at Les Fraisses, a traditional alpine building that was originally handmade from trees cut down in the surrounding forest over a century ago. The yoga studio was the original barn and has a beautiful rustic feel to it. This is a place of outstanding beauty on the side of a mountain, that invites you to pause just to gaze in wonder at the ever changing beauty of nature. The building is surrounded by alpine woodland, wild flowers and a gorge. As you walk around the perimeter, you are rewarded with views of Mont Blanc. Or spend time gazing at the stars whilst sitting in the wood fired hot tub. The village of Praz sur Arly is within easy transfer of Geneva airport but feels like a million miles away from the busyness. Accommodation is in teepees or tents nestled amongst the pine trees surrounding the house. This is a retreat for those who wish to up plug for a few days, connect with nature and are happy sleeping under canvas and being in community.

I have enjoyed myself immensely, you have the most amazing space up here in the mountains that makes people really connect with themselves...to realise fully where they are in their life/journey no matter how hard that can be. The food and environment has also been amazing, I am in awe of the way you live up here. You have instilled sense of community with the indoor and outdoor teams and it's been so much fun, an amazing experience.
I have had an amazing time, I am not sure what I expected but I feel it has really opened up my mind and made me look at my life in a different way. A very emotional experience! An added bonus was making such wonderful new friends...Thank You
This experience has been absolutely brilliant for me and exactly what I needed in my journey at this time. I have been stretched out of my comfort zone, taken to my edge and made some massive breakthrough's physically, emotionally and spiritually. The standard of yoga teaching was very high and I feel blessed and appreciate I could be part of a very special group, who I found supportive, accepting and warm. I feel I have made some great new friends. I leave feeling totally inspired to made some radical changes to the way I live...to take myself on a journey of yoga, a lifetime journey. Thank you for your thorough love and care
What a wonderful experience of balance, integration and coherence. Soraya, you gave stillness and intuitive connection. The experience of slipping into the stillness of my soul, where words became a hindrance rather than a help. You helped me tune into this stillness and reconnect with the unlimited possibilities of my being. I feel a sense of wholeness as I leave and a deep connection with Mother Earth. Highly recommend to those who are trapped in the rat race of life.
The retreat was brilliant, yoga morning and evening is something you can rarely experience in the hecticness of everyday life. It resulted in a refreshed body, stronger and more able to function. It brought out emotional issues that needed to be resolved. Cooking, washing up and fire duties strengthened the group and led to a sharing of experiences and support which heightened and deepened the retreat. Walking was enjoyable, challenging and meant you could be immersed in the scenery, which was magical.
Beautiful setting and wonderful people. I was initially challenged by the retreat, which in retrospect, was a good thing. I hadn't fully understood the extent of the "retreat" nature of the week. Once I adapted to the idea of a very spiritual/reflective retreat, I found it both immensely rewarding, enjoyable and beneficial to me on an unexpectedly deep level. There aren't many yoga teachers who possess the ability and skills to teach on both a physical and spiritual/personal level and make you feel safe enough to embark on this, Soraya is all of these. The activities, lodge and food were really well organised and of high quality and it began to feel like home very quickly. I have had a really wonderful week and have learned a lot on many different levels
A really special retreat....full of beauty and natural poetry. It straddles the line between a personal visit and a revelatory professional group experience. The food and communal work was fantastic and helped anchor us in to this space together. Thank you.. Food for the soul and the body!
