Yoga

Yoga is an ancient and scientific art based on the practice of self inquiry. The word yoga  in Sanskrit can be translated as union. It originates from the root word yuj to yoke, join or unite. Yoga describes the  joining or uniting of all aspects of oneself  - body with mind and mind with spirit to achieve a happy and balanced life.

Yoga is a tree with many branches, but what is commonly referred to as "yoga" is Hatha yoga. Ha meaning the sun and tha meaning the moon. Hatha yoga brings unity and balance to the body.  Hatha yoga itself has many branches but all use the practice of physical postures or poses (asana), each of which has specific physical benefits. Many people think that yoga is just stretching and while this is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility.

Very simply yoga can help us feel better and be a little better. This benefits not only us, but those around us too.
